The Triathlon

Butterfield Bank's Monique Bush join members of the Triathlon Association Richard Johnson (treasurer, second left) and president Brendan Touhey (right) and winners of the recent triathlon (l-r) Steve Evans, Morgan Stewart and Bill McFarland. When the Butterfield Bombastics won the recent Triathlon held on 27th November, team members decided to donate their prize money to the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund.

The team was made up of Morgan Stewart, runner, Steve Evans, biker and Bill McFarland, swimmer. The Bombastics were among several corporate entries in the triathlon and were given the option of donating their win to a charity of their choice.

"It was a pleasure to do well in a sporting event that will also benefit the people of Cayman," Mr. McFarland said.

The team, along with Triathlon Association president Brendan Touhey and treasurer, Richard Johnson recently presented the cheque for CI$1,500 to the National Recovery Fund's Executive Director, Dr. Mark Laskin.

Dr. Laskin noted that the team's contribution comes at a time when the Fund is focusing on total rebuilding of devastated homes.

The National Recovery Fund was established on 23rd September 2004 to provide relief for persons adversely affected by Hurricane Ivan through its housing recovery programme aimed at restoring families to suitable living conditions.

The Fund is a private independent Trust which relies solely on donations to carry out its programmes.
