First Caribbean Bank helps Recovery Fund

NRF's trustee, Huw Moses (left) accepts a cheque from First Caribbean's General Manager Tom Crawford, a contribution to the Fund's ongoing fundraising programme. The Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund's ongoing programme of housing repairs for some of Hurricane's Ivan's most severe cases has received a financial boost from First Caribbean International Bank.

The bank's donation of CI$6,000 comes at a time when the Fund is stepping up its assistance to homeowners with complete rebuilding of homes that have been too severely damaged to be repaired. Some 150 such homes are slated to be rebuilt in the coming months.

In presenting the cheque to Mr. Huw Moses, one of the Trustees of the National Recovery Fund, General Manager of First Caribbean International Bank, Mr. Tom Crawford stated: "We at First Caribbean want to ensure that individuals within our community are restored to suitable living conditions. This donation is one way our company can demonstrate its commitment to the people of Cayman, by helping them get back on their feet."

Executive Director for the National Recovery Fund, Dr. Mark Laskin commented, "It is through the dedication and continuing support of the local business community and companies such as First Caribbean that many families have been put on the road to recovery. There is still much to be done, and we encourage others to become involved in rebuilding Cayman's homes."

The National Recovery Fund, a private independent trust, was set up after Hurricane Ivan to provide relief to those most affected by the hurricane. The Fund and has been instrumental in carrying out repairs to many homes around the island and relies solely on private donations.
