Fund Bring Relief to Home Owner

Elba Corina McLean gets a visit from Rev. Nicholas Sykes, Brian Pairaudeau (not pictured) of Love in Action and Bert Foster and Dr. Mark Laskin of the National Recovery Fund. For Elba Corina McLean, there's finally some light at the end of her long road to recovery following Hurricane Ivan. She is about to get repairs to her house completed thanks to the collaborative efforts of Love in Action and the National Recovery Fund (NRF).

With some four feet of flood waters in her house and loss of the roof, the house required extensive repairs and the waiting has brought some anxious moments.

The roof was replaced by the National Recovery Fund, which has now gone a step further by pooling together with Love in Action to underwrite the cost of re-wiring of the house, restoring the ceiling and other necessary work, so that the electricity supply can be restored.

With her daughter and three grandchildren also occupying the house on Watler's Road, Ms. McLean is elated that at last her house will be fully restored in time for Christmas.

When Love in Action and NRF representatives visited her home recently, she repeated praised their efforts in helping her rebuild. "I'm grateful for everything you've done," she told NRF Executive Director, Dr. Mark Laskin, Project Manager, Bert Foster and Rev. Nicholas Sykes and Brian Pairaudeau of Love in Action.

Love in Action is an outreach of the Cayman Ministers Association, led by Pastor Al Ebanks, Rev. Nicholas Sykes and Pastor Dave George.

The National Recovery Fund, a private independent trust, was set up after Hurricane Ivan to provide relief to those most affected by the hurricane. The Fund has been instrumental in carrying out repairs to hundreds of homes around the island and relies solely on private donations.
