Tony's Toys Makes Recovery Fund Mobile

Managing Director of Tony's Toys, Tony Williamson officially hands over his donation of a Honda Civic motor car to the National Recovery Fund's Office as he underscores his support of the Fund to Executive Director, Dr. Mark Laskin. The gift of a motor vehicle to the National Recovery Fund has been one way that Tony's Toys is helping the recovery effort.

The vehicle, a 2000 Honda Civic, was donated by Tony Williamson, Managing Director of Tony's Toys, because "we felt compelled to strengthen the efforts of the National Recovery Fund," Tony says.

"We feel it is important that everyone contributes to the rebuilding process in whatever way they can and we see the National Recovery Fund as a driving force behind Cayman's recovery, particularly in providing housing assistance to those most in need," he noted.

The National Recovery Fund, a private, independent trust, set up after Hurricane Ivan to provide relief to those most affected, relies on private donations to carry out its work. The Fund's appeals for donations encompass direct cash contributions, pledges, and building materials. The Fund also appeals for volunteers to assist in various ways.

"We are pleased when individuals and companies come forward to support our efforts in these ways. We are particularly grateful to Tony's Toy's for its donation of this vehicle which enables the Fund's offices to be mobile, thereby getting their work done," stated Executive Director of the Fund, Dr. Mark Laskin.

With almost a year gone since the devastation of Hurricane Ivan, the National Recovery Fund has repaired some 300 homes and aims to do another 300 in the next 12 months. The Fund prioritizes applicants who are uninsured, elderly, infirmed, or families with young children.
